“I’ll start tomorrow” might be the most expensive sentence in fitness. It costs people years.
I want to tell you about Cody.
If you’ve been in The Fort early in the mornings lately, you’ve probably seen him. Last week he stood on the turf holding a whiteboard that said “Down 20 lbs.” But the number on that board isn’t really the story. The story is what it took to get there.
When I asked Cody what changed since he started, his answer was one word. “Everything.”
Here’s how he put it. “I’ve always wanted to get to this point in my life. The everyday battle of life and the mindset of ‘I’ll start tomorrow’ kept me from getting where I wanted to be.”
That line stopped me. Because that’s the one, isn’t it? “I’ll start tomorrow.” It’s the sentence that keeps people exactly where they are, year after year.
Cody stopped saying it. And now he’s on a streak of 52 workouts completed without skipping a single one. That streak carried straight through summer vacation with his family, the exact time most people fall off. In his words, “I feel amazing, and my overall health from a proper diet has made my energy level higher and my sleep better. I love this new lifestyle.”
More energy. Better sleep. Twenty pounds down. A streak most people never come close to. That’s not a diet. That’s a different life.
I asked him what he’d tell himself on day one. His answer was about faith, resilience, and reminding himself he’s capable even when the path gets hard. And his advice for anyone still on the fence hit home.
“No one can do it for you. Have faith in yourself that you have the strength to accomplish anything you set your mind to. The road is tough, but without pain we wouldn’t be able to grow.”
I couldn’t have said it better, so I won’t try.
Proud of you, Cody.
