Here's the thing almost nobody tells you about getting in shape. The people who succeed aren't the ones with the most willpower. They're the ones who stop quitting too early.
I want to tell you about Edgar.
Before Edgar ever walked into The Fort, he'd already lost 40 pounds on his own. That takes real discipline. But he knew he wanted to go further, so he decided to take his training to the next level and join us. Since then he's dropped another 35 pounds. That's a total of 75 pounds!
But the number isn't the part that got me.
When I asked Edgar what he'd tell himself on day one, here's what he said. "Be patient and trust the process. Every time I started a diet I expected to see a difference in the first two weeks. It never happened, so I'd get unmotivated and go back to my old eating habits and stop caring about exercising."
That's the key right there. Edgar didn't fail all those other times because he was lazy. He failed because he expected the final result in two weeks and quit when it didn't show up. This time he stayed committed. The commitment and consistency is what changed everything.
So what actually changed? In his words. "Confidence and energy. I actually enjoy going out to dinner and doing activities with the family now. I'm not feeling tired and falling asleep every time I sit down."
That's the stuff that doesn't fit on a scale. More energy, more confidence, being present with his family instead of crashing on the couch. That's a different life, not just a smaller number.
And his advice for anyone still on the fence? "Do it. It won't be easy, but the reward will be worth it all."
Proud of you, Edgar.
